So what’s the deal with the DJ thing, Drew?

16 November 2022

You may have noticed on my bio, or maybe my business card, that I do a radio show in my downtime. It came about during Covid when we all found ourselves with a whooooole bunch of time on our hands.

Myself and one of my best mates started creating weekly radio shows for our own station, and it’s been a bit of a hobby ever since. My weekly show (which is not always weekly) is called Carte Blanche. In each episode I give myself carte blanche to play whatever I want. Some weeks it has a theme, but mostly it's just music that I’m vibing with at any particular moment.

Being a creative director, I loved curating everything, from the music itself, to the visual aesthetic and the audio design… it’s all me, baby (including the intro music). I have plans for new additions and upgrades to the show which I am slowly rolling out, as well as a new monthly show made specifically for creatives who find themselves hitting their creative strides at midnight (a common occurrence).

After 27 episodes I’m still very much a DJ in training, but I’m now willing to share it with more than random internet strangers and close friends who just humour me. I post them all to Mixcloud, so you can hear how far I haven’t come.

Sheesh... there are some rough ones… be gentle.
